Richard Wahl started his career on a farm in North
central Kansas, Riley County, as a young boy. He farmed with his father and
brother until attending Kansas State University . He graduated from
Kansas State University College of Agriculture
in 1971 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Richard continued to farm for
14 years, learning many more aspects of farming by experience. This experience
helped him get a job at Northwest Kansas Extension Farm Management as an
Agricultural Economist, in 1985. Richard served the record keeping and income
tax needs of farmers in seventeen counties out of Colby for 13 years and
WaKeeney for 7 years. He served as Fieldman for a total of 20 years, and was
the Executive Fieldman for 18 years of that time. He is a member of the
National Association of Farm Business Analysis Specialists and has received
several awards for articles and newsletters from that organization.
Farming has always been his first love, and so he
retired from Northwest Kansas Extension Farm Management in 2005 and began
farming fulltime again. In 2005 and 2006, he completed the Texas Executive
Program for Ag. Producers, which represents exposure to several of the
nation’s top agricultural educators in the context of top producer decision
making from around the world. When the Lord presented the opportunity to
purchase Farm Business Services, Richard and Linda (his wife, personal
assistant, and business partner) walked through the door and have continued to
be excited about the opportunity to help farmers and ranchers make appropriate
management decisions.
Linda and Richard's life experiences include serving on
their church boards, helping their two children with 4-H projects, serving on
the Riley County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 6 years and the Farm
Bureau State Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee for 4 years.
